About the founder/creator:
Designer Jonathan Meizler returns to his roots in menswear with the launch of his brainchild ‘title of work’. A consummate artist and entrepreneur, Meizler has always worked independently, away from the confines of the corporate structure. He prefers to straddle the line of art and commerce on his own terms.
Born and raised in Newton, MA., Jonathan lived and studied art and design in Vienna and London, and worked as an Assistant Director in Los Angeles prior to entering the fashion world.
A former partner in JonValdí Couture, Meizler created hand-tailored sportswear collections for both men and women, and a ‘modern American couture’ eveningwear collection sold exclusively at Bergdorf Goodman and in his New York Atelier.
“With ‘title of work’, I hope to translate the principles of art, fashion and science into uniquely curated pieces. In its first season, I chose to redefine the proportions of masculinity, by drawing inspiration from my previous history in women's couture, and pairing it with the singular symbol of refinement- the tie."
The packaging:
Each ‘title of work’ piece is rolled into a black canister,
inspired by the packaging used to transport fine art prints.
To complete the presentation of each item, an iconic 'red
dot' is added, signifying a buyer's interest.
The Tie:
Each tie is hand sewn in New York.
The back of each piece is finished with a metal amulet:
a gun, hand, or circle signifying violence, peace and life.
A hangtag detailing the materials used and the collection’s
inspiration is hand signed by the designer.
