Co-founded in 2011 by longtime fashion models Sandra Pelikan and Kata Greaney, A8’s mission is to bring the completely unique and visceral experience of a New York City men’slifestyle boutique to the gentlemen of the world.
Natives of Germany and New Zealand respectively, Sandra and Kata met in the New York modeling industry after each working for some time in several other major international fashion markets. They quickly and deeply bonded over their expatriate love for the city they both now call home, and it was only a matter of time before they began dreaming up a business venture which would encapsulate this shared passion and a mutual design sense.
Seeing that men were not nearly as catered to as women in the online marketplace, Sandra and Kata decided to create an online lifestyle boutique showcasing a selection of men’s products that they personally admired from brands that share the same love of raw materials and a handmade touch.
Inspired by the idea of hand selecting these products to reflect the qualities of eight different elements (air, fabric, glass, leather, metal, skin, water, and wood), and to give their customers a new way to online shop... so it was that A8 was born.
Working closely with both emerging talents and young established designers, A8 offers carefully chosen items that share a clean, modern, and distinctively New York aesthetic as well as brands and items that share a story behind their development.
Their retail philosophy reflects a desire to offer each customer a piece of the iconic city through an 8 Element themed shopping site with products and accessories that are unique, beautifully crafted and undeniably a part of the New York lifestyle. They believe that the online consumer experience should be simple, fresh and exciting.
